I am part of a group of 4 close friends, we are friends through sport, however all of us share many common loves, music being one. 3 of us are fans of prog music, the 4th not. The odd one out decided to try and understand what we liked about it, so did a bit of research (without referring to us) and decided that the best album to get “into” prog with was Tales. The next time we met up conversation turned to music and we became aware of his experiments. As background his tastes are commendably varied, with one exception, he has a fairly short attention span and so any music lasting longer than 210 seconds usually holds no interest. He told us his album of experiment choice and was irritated when the three of us burst out laughing. We tried to explain that it was similar to someone who had never tried recreational drugs starting off by mainlining heroin.
