Thank you for your easy-to-understand instruction! This is much simpler, no "tree" method, no squaring, etc. I did other problems in a matter of 10 - 20 seconds! :).

A good initial test is to subtract the smaller number from the larger number. The GCF is either that number or a factor of that number. In each of the cases in the video, the difference test would have found the GCF instantly,

Hi Sal
I think you are the best on YouTube. You have the kindest voice, you are a pleasure to listen to. Most importantly, your methods are the easiest. Can I ask, what if you chose another factor eg. 3 instead of 9? Some of us aren't as quick as you Sal. lol :-)

For 72 and 108 can you do
72 and 36
(2) 36 54
(2) 18 27
(3) 6 9
(3) 2 3

2x2x3x3= 36 TechMath please answer my question, isn't this a valid way to work out the GFC?

It is actually a lot easier with the Euclidean Algorithm, once you understand that. Espacially with your examples: 72 - 60 = 12. 108 - 72 = 36.

Could you clarify something for me? When finding the GCF of 72 and 108… I understand the 9 and the 4, but I don't understand why 2 wasn't included. Thank You!
