Looking for how to add tweets to an old tweet so as to create a thread in desktop. It appears that the only option is to simply reply to the original tweet. Does that sound right?

but after realising the thread on my profile I'll see each of the tweets inside the thread as seperate tweets that irritates can we turn off that option I just want them be able to read the entire thread by clicking for it...
