There’s a version of this that actually includes water, plus you mix the water, soup, rice, and more seasonings together before placing the chicken on top. I make it whenever I want something that uses pantry ingredients and tastes pretty good for very minimal effort, and I like it pretty well! Weird to see this version cook the rice dry like that! With just a few changes it could be so much better!

My aunt used to make a casserole almost exactly like this. It was genuinely tasty and took pretty much no time to make. The only difference was, well, liquid. The soup was mixed with enough water to cook the rice. She used chicken legs and would change up the type of cream soup for variety.

If anyone wants a very easy meal, I suggest looking up a proper version of this.

I'm convinced the author must have just forgotten to mention the rice should be cooked or that some water should be added because there's not even remotely enough liquid to cook the rice.

I make something like this all the time. It just need water. I'm the queen of the oven. I have a toddler and middle schooler with a full schedule.

Casseroles are a nostalgic food. This one reminds me of being in bed early in the morning and hearing my dad pour a bowl of Grape Nuts before he left for work.

They forgot to say "cooked" rice in the recipe :) You could also do uncooked but add water, I have a little recipe card from the 70s with this recipe and it added enough water to cook the rice. It's really good!
