Here's The 𝗕𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗧𝗩 𝗼𝗳 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 as Voted by Experts in A Blind Test

Our 2024 TV shootout between the LG G4, Samsung S95D, Sony A95L & Panasonic Z95A OLED TVs.

All competing TVs were 65 inches in screen size, and were calibrated in SDR and HDR modes to the common standards used within the film and broadcast industry, perceptually matched to a Sony BVM-HX3110 dual-layer LCD mastering monitor capable of reaching a peak brightness of 4000 nits.

All the TVs were masked, so the 9 video professional & enthusiast judges didn't know which TV was which when scoring different picture attributes.

The judges were (in alphabetical order by surname):

3. Ian Lowe, ex-Dolby Vision Post Production
4. James Meredith, Technical Director & Co-Founder at Netvio
5. Julian Nelson, Head of Post Production & Co-Founder at Residence Pictures
6. Benjamin Taieb, AV reviewer & Youtube content creator from France
7. James Willmott, THX-certified enthusiast
8. Robert Walia, TV enthusiast
9. PQ engineer who prefers to remain anonymous

The results neither represent the opinions or views of individual judges, nor do they constitute the endorsement of any particular TV brand, since the judges didn’t even know which TV was which throughout the voting process.

This really makes it clear that Sony needs to come down on the 77A95L price. Even if one prefers Sony processing/features - it is NOT worth $1500 more (U.S. market).

I upgraded to 77 G4 this year - pristine screen, solid build quality, no image complaints, lifelike HDR highlights, benefits from years of refinement, and I could buy at about half the price of the Sony from LG Partner store.

Pleased that LG won. It's admirable how they continue to find more and more performance from W-OLED, in response to the competition from QD-OLED models.

Great to see how close the final scores were - almost a three way tie! I'm sure Sony will come back hard next year. A great time to be a TV enthusiast.

Had the G4 and now the S95D. The G4 is the better all-around TV, but for dim/dark room watching, the S95D is noticeably better, and it's not easy to explain why lol. It's one of those things where you need to see it. It's funny because Value Electroincs' blind shootout also had the S95D winning dark room HDR viewing.
