The Golden Ratio | Principles of Design

The golden ratio is a key design principle that has been around for centuries. Built on the Fibonacci sequence, the golden ratio, or ‘Phi’, is a math principle used to make aesthetically pleasing designs.

In this video, we are going to answer ‘What is the golden ratio’, and how to draw it from the Fibonacci sequence. We then go on to explore the golden ratio in art, and how it is seen in famous paintings like ‘Bathers at Asnières’ by Georges-Pierre Seurat. In the next part of the video, we focus on how the golden ratio can be found in nature, like flower or shells. Finally, we talk about how the golden ratio can be found in design, such as typography, as well as logo design and website design.

The golden ratio isn't the only ratio in nature. There are a few others. So don't look at it as the golden standard, but as a tool in your toolkit.

Fun fact. The golden ratio point of earth is exactly in Mecca, more specifically at the kaabah (the black cube Muslims pray towards).

When you say ratio... it’s relationship between 2 objects...right?
Then how can you just put spiral line on anything and say it’s a golden ratio?
Examples shown in the videos are not correct I guess
