The Enigmatic German 'Stonehenge': An Ancient Gallows? | Ancient Architects

As prehistoric Britons gathered at #Stonehenge, people living in what is now #Germany were erecting their own grand monument, a complex of nested circular ditches, pits and rows of posts that were interspersed with the remains of women and children, whom experts believe were human sacrifices.

The German site of #Pommelte, which dates back to as early as 2,320 BC, is dotted with 29 shafts containing objects such as shattered jugs, but also skeletons, some of them mutilated, of women and children.

The monument has a number of astronomical alignments with the sun and with to these alignments, together with the burials, many experts believe it was a ritual centre for the ancient people of Germany.

The late #Neolithic, early #BronzeAge site, which is 377 feet in diameter, has been under reconstruction for several years and has just opened to the public for the first time.

Watch this video to find out more, and to hear about another, more gruesome interpretation about what stone and wood henges actually were.

An older video from 2 years ago with only a few views but I’ve updated it and brought it back. PS - the book on Neolithic Britain is still ongoing. I still work on that each week but it’s such a huge job! Thanks everyone!

The old Welsh name for Stonehenge is Cor Y Cewri, which translates into English as the Choir of Giants, also translates as the Crown of Giants, from Coron=Crown. This name ia ancient. Its predominantly the Choir of Giants /Ancients tho. Love Ancient Architects show, keep up the great work, brother. ✌️

It's so refreshing to have a YouTube video to watch that suggests a differing viewpoint from "the Official Narrative". It's getting more rare all the time to find them. It gets us thinking. Thank you! . . and carry on.

would be awesome if you could have recurring podcast conversations with people like robert temple, bouval and other heterodox egyptologists, and also of course more orthodox ones like lehner. I think that is the only way to come closer to the truth. i bet mainstream egyptologists have some hard truths that heterodox ones don't want to accept or just havent heard of in som form of an ecochamber. you seem like a good candidate for straddeling the ortho/heterodox chasm. i gotta believe they would be interested in discussing hypotheses with you. especially the ones conserning giza. maybe im too hopeful, but i would love to hear it.

makes me think of an corral for holding many captured enemies. those posts seem so close together that even children would not easily get through them. thanks for the video.

The four red portals in the inner circle made me think about torii, japanese gates. I see a similarity.

When you walk into Stonehenge and stand in the middle, it feels more like walking into a cathedral rather than a courthouse or a prison.

This interpretation of the purpose for the construction of these henges is a breath of fresh air. Just like the dirty snowball idea of comets, the idea that every ancient structure had a religious meaning. Back then as now, people had more things to do with their time then perform religious rituals. People met at different times for different reasons. Trade goods, young people to find partners outside their family group, celebrate the change of seasons, get news from other areas of the country, etc.

Wood rots. It would all have to be replaced every 10-20 years. You'd probably burn it. Is it certain that it was destroyed just once? Maybe it was destroyed regularly, and the ashes, rubble etc just accumulated over time.

I doubt it was a gallows. I also doubt anyone was executed by a firing squad of archers. (Firing squads are modern, partly reflecting our modern desire (and ability) to distance ourselves from killing, which ancients wouldn't have shared.)

Not everything found near such a monument has to be directly related to the monument itself. Maybe someone was plain old-fashioned murdered years or centuries after the site was abandoned.

Hello! I would love to know what you have to say about the KAIMANAWA WALL in New Zealand. Cheers!

your explanation is indeed one of the possibilities for those circles..and it feels good to me to have some doubt and questions about the regular ideas mentioned by the authorities.
When they used the henge for speaking justice in their group or for hanging villains as you mentioned, wouldn't it be awkward to have so many poles or stone-pillars to choose from?
And as we know by now, not all the stone or wooden circles had lintels from their origin, as some are much to small.
One of the other options, being the only way to follow or track the incoming Taurid showers, which became trough the ages the bringer of havoc, and is indirectly live threatening for humans around the planet, does has a strong appeal to me.
Those circles, where strongly related to Dolmen, and mostly made out of the same materials, the same unfinished shapes, and with the same heavy tasks to transport and lift.
Are these stone works the outcome of their heritage?
Did they fail to make iron, and left those stones often unfinished, because of that, but still having the stories of the past to make these places anyway..?
We find these places near every coast, weather the Atlantic, the Pacific and Indian ocean, which gives away the idea of a seafaring heritage too.
One thing intrigues me though..
When those Dolmen and Circles are found..we also find the myths and sagas of huge people, people not in average size..
It has been mentioned so often in old stories and myths, I wonder if we still could name it a coincidence?
In The Netherlands for instance there are only small Dolmen found, and they are called 'hunebeden' and generally thought to be graves.
The first part of this name is 'hune', which is not used in the modern Dutch language, and comes from the old germanic word for giant which is a hune also.
the second part means bed, to sleep in or on..
and the only story we know of giants, is a tale about two brothers, defending their area they used for hunting wild animals, with lines and bells across the field on which local people should not step as they got angry and caused terror to the humans who did..( a tale tolled to children to this very day)
You see, there is always a link to huge people, without the whoo factor that is..:-)
We find even the stories in the Bible and Tora, and in the later it is mentioned that the Phoenicians and Egyptians where the ancient descendants of these huge people which where very strong in fighting the wars..and they lived also on the Golan-hight from which they were expelled by Israelite's clearing their land.
Anyway, it feels strange when to many connections are stumbled upon when searching the history of these very old places ( sometimes 9000 years old!)
Just a open thought to share with you, but not as good as the iron mine you have found in Giza, Spectacular that is!! :-)
