I really enjoyed building this wooden device. It was a fun project. I used Matthias Wandel's gear template generator program on this one.

That satisfying smile when you made it to the top - priceless!

A fantastic piece of craftsmanship I would be very interested in seeing the gearing for this build

For light duty work traveling assembly can also be mounted under the top. Great execution of the concept, really makes the gears in the head spin with design play. Double up for rigidity with bearings in hard wood and you can eliminate the crossing over middle dowels or use as sliding shelf mounting method with travel bar under and more. Already half 'Steampunk-ed'.

Nice work. This is a great demonstrator for wood gears and the scissor lift concept.

I built a single stage scissor lift about 6 weeks ago. I was disappointed because it can't lift much weight at the bottom due to inherent force multiplication because of the geometry. It was also very wobbly being made from wood. Wooden lifts make fun toys but aren't very good for lifting much weight.

this project is so cool you need to make a step by step video. Congrats!!

If you capture a threaded rod coupling nut in the cross strut and float one end of the threaded rods then only the strut travels and the rods don't come poking out. The whole gearbox assembly can be part of a table top, it doesn't need to be part of bottom.

Thank you for your sharing . very accurately and very good idea.

So, you think you are smart and skilled because you build this Scissor lift? Well, you should. Very nice work. What do you expected? a rude comment from random viewer? Not this time...

Why did you feel that the sound of the winding added value?

That's a good workout and good build

If one were to allow the metal rods to pass through the unfastened "leg" of the lift, as opposed to the current opposite setup, would this allow the rods that, with the current setup, extend "outside" the device, to instead stay inside the box bottom?

Hi! My name is Anna. I'm a London Metropolitan University student at architecture.

I have seen your "homemade scissor lift" and it fits perfectly in my concept. Can I please have drawings of your fantastic lift? Of course I will mention you as an author of mechanism in my paperwork.

I was wondering about the gears you used: what pressure angle of the teeth did you use that they work under the 90 degree angle :)?

Seeing it up and down, that is more fun to watch than the spinner toy.

does the rods have threads on them?...are they moving like just a nut bolt mechanism?

please, how did you transmit the motion from the hand wheel to the gears?
