Logic almost mistakenly kicked out of Noname concert until dropping some biracial bars, more at 11.

As a racist, my favourite thing to do is going to indie black artists concerts to support them with my money.

Noname must have forgotten that black audiences aren't unlocked until you reach xp level 8

No one should EVER feel guilty for liking music

I mean, this is just a classic case of “death of the author”. Once you make a piece of art, and release to the public, you have no control in who consumes it and how they perceive it.

I saw this coming ever since I saw her live in Melbourne. She was a bad vibe. Not only did she seem openly pissed at her band for not learning the new album quickly enough (this was like 2 weeks after Room 25 came out), she kept commenting over and over again on how white the audience was, and even at one point said "ya'll invented racism" as if we were all supposed to approach her after the show to personally apologise. Why come to fucking Australia of all places if you don't want to play for white people?

Noname is one of the only artists that willingly speaks out on the oppression her community faces in spite of the backlash she receives, for that she deserves all the recognition possible. Her wanting people at her shows who experienced the things she writes her music about shouldn't be that huge an issue

It's one thing to say, "I'd like to see more black people in the crowds."
It's a totally different thing to say, "I don't like/want to perform to white crowds."

Fun fact: In Brazil, singer Anitta (who came from a poor neighborhood in the favela) noticed "her people" weren't going to her concerts, mainly because they can't afford it, so she went to that favela and did a whole show for "her people" for free. Use that white audience's money and treat the ones you feel closer to. Simple as that

Anthony stopped touring because there were too many Kurds in the audience

Edit: for context, I’m black and grew up in South St. Louis. My grandma moved here with nothing from Mississippi after sharecropping tobacco as a kid. many in my family have struggled since then to find footing in society because of old, stubborn perspectives. This had as much to do with my uncles’, aunts’ and cousins’ downfalls as racial bias did. I encourage openness to progress, not to pander.

This comment section hasn’t addressed how maturely and objectively Fantano came at this issue. I agree that alternative artists with political undertones will always have this issue of being frustrated by the casual, oblivious sections of their audiences. That being said, it was a callous and insensitive statement that doesn’t take into account the value of exposing the less “woke” to more serious art. In my personal opinion, there really isn’t any point in creating the art for people who think exactly like the artist. It’s great to have people who “get it” but the lasting impact comes from communicating to people who don’t.

The real question is if Fantano will stop creating videos due to his extremely white audience.;

What if Tyler the Creator once said:, , I make songs about how it feels to be gay and be in love with a boy. I'm tired of all these straight people coming to my concert, they can't understand my music, because they haven't experienced homophobia. I will quit if straight people keep coming to my show. " How would you react?
