Just a tip, when doing electrolysis you need to clean of the metal where the wire goes to get a good connection. Thats why the wire was bubbling and not the pliers as there was no electrical connection. The electrolysis will work much better with a good connection. Great job, they look new.

Outstanding! You do beautiful work. One little note. As one who spent several years using heat shrink tubing to insulate electrical connections, I have found that a heat gun is much more effective in shrinking that stuff to fit. When using any king of flame it is easy to get one part too hot. The outflow from a heat gun is plenty hot enough while being diffuse enough to ensure a good result.

That turned out nice 😎 I found one about the same when I was 16 and spent a good day cleaning it up with WD-40 wire brush and sandpaper and that Sheffield steel pair of pliers is still a perfect nice tight tool 45 years later!

One might say it is ridiculous to restore a tool so simple and cheap as this tool would cost to replace but that's not the reason to save it. It is the love and respect that we have for tools and how things that can be as simple as a pair of pliers can accomplish so much. Tools -one of the greatest achievements of man. Thanks Restore & Make for what you do.

A decent finish here. I usually drop any tools that I am refurbishing into a tub of diesel fuel and leave it foe a few days before doing anything else. It will not remove the rust, but it will penetrate into every nook and cranny -- much cheaper than the WD40 fish oil and it can be used over and over again.

It may be the wrong thing to use, but I find white vinegar works well to.
Nice to see good old proper tools still being used.

There’s something satisfying about seeing old tools be made almost as good as new. Like new life is being added to them.

They actually make a product for replacing the handles on tools, it’s called plasti-dip and you can get it in different colors, it comes in a can and you just dip the handle down in there several times until you achieve the desired thickness. It produces a handle that’s basically as good as the original. Might check that out for your next project.
