What is a VPN Protocol?
A VPN protocol is a set of rules that decides how data moves between a device and a VPN server. VPN providers use these protocols to furnish stable and secure connections for their users.

A VPN transmits your online traffic through encrypted tunnels to VPN servers that assign your device a new IP address. Each VPN protocol is a different solution to the problem of secure and private internet communication.

What are the best VPN protocols?
There is no such thing as the best VPN protocol suitable for everyone. If you’re an avid gamer, you probably use VPN for different reasons than someone who watches a lot of TV shows or often works from cafes. So the evaluation of a VPN protocol depends on the user’s needs.

OpenVPN protocol
OpenVPN is a very popular and highly secure protocol used by many VPN providers. It runs on either the TCP or UDP internet protocol. The former will guarantee that your data will be delivered in full and in the right order, while the latter will focus on faster speeds. Many VPNs, including NordVPN, let you choose between the two.

Ikev2/IPsec VPN protocol
IKEv2/IPsec sets the foundation for a secure VPN connection by establishing an authenticated and encrypted connection. It was developed by Microsoft and Cisco. IKEv2 really shines in its stability. As part of the IPSec internet security toolbox, IKEv2 uses other IPSec tools to provide comprehensive VPN coverage.

Point-to-Point Tunnelling Protocol
Point to Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP) appeared in 1999 and was the first widely available VPN protocol. First, its main purpose was to tunnel dialup traffic. PPTP uses some of the weakest encryption protocols of any VPN protocol and has plenty of security vulnerabilities. PPTP is no longer a supported NordVPN protocol.

I'm already a NordVPN user and clicked on this video cuz it claims to explain things but its literally filled with acronyms and jargon and zero explanation.

Sorry then in most of websites it wrote that data usage of vpn protocols are from 2 to 15 percents at all
So is there a protocol that uses more wich we shouldnt use or a way to see every protocol data usage?

This video was created before Nord offered the NordLynx protocol which is more secure than the other two that are available.
