Meet Our Faculty - Kris Orszaghova

Kris, originally from Slovakia, is a faculty member in CEU’s Department of Gender Studies. With a unique academic background that weaves together sound studies, sports studies, and artistic research, they bring an unconventional and creative approach to teaching and scholarship. A former national team athlete in artistic swimming and an international competitor in boxing, Kris draws on lived experience to explore how identity is shaped through sound, movement, and performance.

Their courses invite students to approach the world—and social issues—through unexpected lenses, such as sonic fiction and embodied listening. Passionate about blending the critical with the imaginative, Kris fosters a classroom space where thought is both rigorous and deeply responsible toward the world.
