Yeah but the person at 45 lived their 17 years and are that much more educated than the 17yr old. 17 year olds don't see the future because they haven't lived it. That's why family is important and the person who already lived those uniformed years passed on their knowledge.
It's like saving time teacher the right way rather than the old fashion "live and learn" way. If you know something and it can help someone else advance. Give the help.
