So funny, I felt the same way when recharging Purigen. You recharge it with bleach and then I Primed it. It was like magic.

You can also use 50% water and 50% vinegar with the same steps. Works for all my CO2 diffusers!

If George said to do it, I'd do it. Same goes if you say to do something! Your alum recipe hasn't let me down yet.

Omg the Dwarf Crayfish at the end! I just got a couple, and it's awesome to see another keeper that has them. They're adorable! Also, thank you for the tip! I just got into CO2, and I've been wondering how this would work

You have a very friendly voice... it's fun to listen to

I use that method regularly. Works great.

I've done this but I rinsed the diffuser under the tap for a good bit before soaking it in the dechlorinator solution.

I've also tried soaking the diffuser in hydrogen peroxide overnight. It worked in my experience too.

Btw, I think dechlorinators work very quickly, as long as it has diffused throughout the water. But yeah, bleach is a different beast compared to the chlorine in tap water.

Water conditioner especially prime I've found does work almost instantly I've tested several times just after conditioning in large tanks the stuff works like a dream

Water conditioner works IMMEDIATELY, any form of chlorine or chloromides that it touches immediately reacts with it. When you are working with a lot of water it takes longer because it has to spread through the system completely

I have for some time now.. just make sure you smell the diffuser first to make sure the bleach has gone. If not make a stronger solution to make sure the bleach has total gone.

Yes! That’s what I do but I also soak for both steps for longer!

Well, if you did it and nothing bad happened, then of course I would try it. I just needed someone like you to test out the canary in the coal mine.

Citrus or vinegar are better option to clean aquarium stuff in my opinion. With those you don't even run the risk of killing the fish or plants (unless you use gallons of it).

I’ve learned that prime or any other dechlorinator works pretty much instantly

I would put it in another cup of water.
just water
10 min

I’ve been doing some research on CO2 for my tanks, would you recommend it for any planted tank or are there specific tanks that need it? I’m wanting to get my plants to grow better :)

I would do this but rinse it better before putting back in the tank

Many people will refill their tanks up to half before adding the dechlorinator & then carry on. So adding it after a lot of tap water has gone into the tank. That makes me nervous but I think that’s what you have to do if you’re using a Python. Shoot me down if I’m wrong.

Dechlorinator takes 5 minutes at most, with the chemical reaction usually happening in seconds. Especially with such a small amount of water.
