Winter SUP Cold Weather Gear
Показать описание
Wanting to stand up paddle thru winter? How do we protect against icy, numb extremities? How do we keep safe and protect against cold water shock if we do happen to fall in?
In this video we go through our gear from top to toe! Find all the links down below.
Remember...safety first! If you are out on the water in colder weather, you need to protect against cold water shock response.
This is the initial physiological responses evoked by being immersed in cold water. It is a real danger in water below 15°C. When the body is suddenly immersed in cold water it experiences a number of physiological responses that can rapidly incapacitate and even kill. Adequate clothing and a lifejacket will potentially help you to survive long enough to be recovered. So make sure you are wearing your lifejacket - grabbing for it when you do fall off will be so much more difficult in cold water.
In this video, Simon and I are discussing our choices for cold weather gear for our climate and for the times we are choosing to paddle. For those of you in colder climates or choosing to go out in colder weather than us, your choices may be different and may include a full wetsuit or even a drysuit. You will find out more about these in the links below.
