Ep: 14 Please LIKE and SUBSCRIBE if you enjoy today’s video!
We also welcome you to share your favourite things about living in or visiting the UK. Due to some of your suggestions in previous videos, we have been visiting new spots and even have an upcoming trip planned to North Sutherland, courtesy of an incredibly generous subscriber.

We moved across the pond from California to Scotland (around Edinburgh) exactly 3 months ago, so we thought that now would be a good time to reflect on another 10 things that we love about life in the UK. We’re addressing the rain, the culture, and…bathrooms?!

Please know that as much as we love our new life in Scotland, we still also have many friends and family members located across the U.S. and hold wonderful memories from our time there. We appreciate both cultures wholeheartedly and look forward to sharing all that we experience across the UK.

I've been in the UK for 53 years and I'm not tired of the rain yet.

School uniforms act as a great leveller. I came from a council estate on the edge of town that was a bit rough around the edges. But when I arrived at Grammar School, a mostly middle class school, all the rich kids were wearing the same clothes as me.

Do you know how nice you come across as a couple? Very heart warming. Keep up the good work.

The UK winter is dark and has a unique kind of damp chillyness that goes beyond the actual temperature, what saves it is in the middle of that darkness is December and the run up to Christmas with all the lights and decorations, Christmas markets and the fun of Christmas itself, at the end of that as we head into a new year the days are getting longer again with another Spring and Summer to look forward to, great video again and Finn is very cute.

You guys are so genuine and enthusiastic. Nice to hear from people who are clearly enjoying their lives and the choices they’ve made. I wish your family continued happiness in Scotland.

I’m am Scotland born and Canadian raised. The last time I was “home” I stood in the middle of Glasgow Central Station and told my husband and adult children that I felt like I was amongst my people lol. There is a feeling when you go back that is like no other. I’m very intrigued by your journey and feel like it is something that I would like to think we could do one day now that we’re retired. Even if I am just dreaming never say never! Really enjoy your videos!

I am Scottish and I live in Scotland. I have travelled abroad extensively over the last 53 years and currently have family who have lived in Northern California for 22 years. I have spent over 6 months visiting friends and family in the USA and travelling too. I am not surprised that you are loving Scotland. As you so joyfully articulate, there is so much to like. I am particularly happy for your kids. You are giving them an upbringing that they simply could not experience in the USA. When you have more time, I am sure that you will discover that only parts of Scotland are wet. I see that you have visited Yellowcraig, and North Berwick beaches. East Lothian has some of the driest areas in the country and the UK. No severe droughts, deadly forest/bush fires, or earthquakes and sunamis. Before you know it, you will be wondering why you ever contemplated bringing up kids in California. Welcome to Bonnie Scotland.

I think what many of us like are the seasons. Yes it will be dark and wet over winter but the spring will come and the weather will improve. We appreciate the changes that the seasons bring rather than having pretty much the same weather all year round.

I think that a lot of the points you raise really emphasise how the area that you have picked to live is just perfect for you. A lot of your points do apply to the rest of the country but having considerate neighbours, community, facilities and peace are such wonderful things that don’t always apply. It just shows that when you boil it down to the things that make you happy it really isn’t material stuff is it 🥰xx

I love coastal Scotland. I grew up in Ayrshire, holidayed on the Kintyre peninsula most summers, and my parents lived near Skye for several years. Fresh air and the ability to actually do things and not die of heat exhaustion. One thing about the U.S. where I live at the moment is that it's hard to enjoy outdoor activities during the day in the summer. Stuck inside with the ac all day.

Hi Zach&Annie it's wonderful to see how much you all as a family in the last couple of months have adapted & embraced the beauty of Scotland 💖

It's rare that I, genuinely, smile throughout a Youtube video. You're a breath of fresh air and such nice people. Thank you for making me smile the whole length of your videos. Scotland's so lucky to have you as part of its greater community. Warmest good wishes from one of your neighbours down in England!

The weather in Scotland was the one thing I didn't enjoy, however, in the winter it is nice when it's cold outside and you're all snuggled up in front of the fire. I can't celebrate Christmas in the heat, just doesn't feel right. Our Christmas tree is wrapped up in the cupboard for when we finally do come back to the UK. Everything has it plus and minus points.
The cakes looked yummy! School uniforms are the way to go
Love to Finn xx

I have just got to the end with your adorable new puppy. He makes your lovely family complete. There is nothing like a dog to get you out and about, meeting new people.
