Recently an almost new riding mower came in the shop. Customer says it runs for about five minutes then dies. This is an issue that I see quite a bit in my small engine repair shop and it's a problem that is not too complicated to fix.

Man. I just logged in to say THANK YOU. The secret small screen!! I replaced the carb on my mower because nobody could figure out what was wrong. It worked for a while, and started to surge again. Same issue, nobody knew what was wrong. Today after watching this, I checked the screen and it was packed with debris. Cleaned it out, and now it runs perfectly. Saved me so much stress/trouble. As a MTD service dealer we are seeing now, more of these "POWERMORE" engines on there rider mowers, Thanks Don, i will now be checking these little screens for pluging. Don, this is one of the very best video's I've found for repairs. I feel much more confident that I will be able to tear down and repair my Troy-Bilt TBR 30. It has the identical issue and I have lost much sleep working on the big 3...Electrical, spark & fuel. I needed a new battery since the last one was beat. I almost started down the road of regulator/altenator testing. I checked the fuel line and did the usual replacement parts, etc.but I shied away from the carb till TODAY! Thank you again. Excellent video and I hope this solves my problem. I must do this repair myself since being broken by retirement. I hope to report back that it's fixed but if not I am sure you have another video for the next step. You're like a repair shop in my back pocket!

My dad has the exact same tractor with the exact same problem disconnected the fuel line after the filter removed the carburetter drain screw and blew air in the hole it removes the crap in the fuel screen put the same filter as you put been working perfect ever since
