it's been a while. i'm ready to absorb words again, for fun.

hi!! in short, reading lets you live other lives, understand other people, see new worlds, learn about yourself. it's humbling. it's a reminder how little you know. it's fun. and it takes more discipline than scrolling on social media. why do you like reading? 🌞 and if you don't, also tell me why! x

Recommend me good books! SELL them to me like your life depends on it 👀

This sounds silly.

But, the best piece of advice I was ever given was from a university lecturer: "Find peace in knowing that you will never know everything. But, be content knowing you always have the ability and privilege to learn more."

That's the case with me - want to read more but the academic stuff is too demanding 🙄. Can relate to the video 👍

I get you Jade literally I’m such a bookworm but I’ve only read like 2 books this year and it’s so annoying to me that I’m in a bit of a slump 😭

REBEL OF THE SANDS is such an incredible series, I cannot express how much I love these books- they’re not all that well known so you might not hear this from anyone else, but they are truly incredible and they give you that feeling that makes you want to leave earth and live with the characters in the story.

I’m into philosophy, I recommend a book called ‘The Path’ it is somewhat a quick read but the ideas explained in this book changed my entire perception on how I think about life. 💫 You will love it! Jade, I think it’s a book your mum might enjoy too Xx

In case of fiction YA: “The Book Thief” and “The Inexplicable Logic of My Life” are great - and I think you had Six of Crows on your book shelf!! It’s great if you’re looking for fiction/fantasy

philosophy recs!
- bell hooks has really interesting ideas on feminism and the nature of power
- jean-paul sartre is super interesting if you're into existentialism at all (and i definitely suggest his plays as a starting point)
- condorcet is a french revolution-era thinker who advocated for peace, equality, and social reform -- his ideas can be a little outdated but it's interesting to compare them to current philosophy
- i also quite like francis bacon! the new atlantis is a fiction work that deals with utopian societies + acquisition of knowledge
loved the video, always excited to hear about what people are reading :) xx
