Healing through storytelling: Paula Abood at TEDxParramatta

Paula Abood will discuss the importance storytelling in developing confidence empathy and building communities. Paula Abood is a Community Cultural Development (CCD) worker, Writer and Educator. She has worked with culturally diverse communities for the past 25 years to build capacities in a diversity of settings. She has written for performance, radio, publications and film, works including Parenting Stories (2010), Huriyya and her Sisters (2009), The Afghan Women's Dobaiti Project (2006), The Book of African Australian Stories (2006), and Of Middle Eastern Appearance (2000). She is currently teaching Community Cultural Development at TAFE and working on storytelling projects with Western Sydney communities.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group.
