Coronavirus Rant from China - Issues & Concerns

Today I rant a bit about some of the things bothering me, China government issues included.

China sometimes seems to try and play Mr Nice guy when it comes much of it's international politics, but it's a wasted effort not only because no matter what, they can do no good and people will still find a way to criticise China, but because it will cause them to lose support now. By playing Mr Nice guy with incoming visitors to China, it is undoing all of our efforts here on the ground.

Daniel Dumbrill, I do want you to know that there are us as Americans who have been watching this for weeks and praying for the people of China and have no hatred in our hearts. Please be assured of that.

I think we just need to pray for all the real chinese people that are suffering and working the medical field.theirs are the heroes who have a very hard job.

SARS-CoV-2 very likely is already spreading here in the US. I expect that efforts to deal with the virus will not be nearly as well-coordinated as in China.

The Bottom Line: China is the only country that could control so many people successfully. China has emerged as the most powerful nation on earth. China had to make the tough decisions and held their nation together. I am proud of the Chinese people and their efforts. True Bravery. Thank You China!

I agree 100%. I’m in the US and believe the only reason we don’t have a higher rate of infection is because of the lack of testing. Until they ramp up testing we will never know. They are only worried about the stock market. It’s scary.

I have to say though, i'm impressed by the government of my country's response so far (Norway), they aren't talking about China in a bad light, they try to help where they can, by sending equipment to China, and they've focused a lot on the cases we have in Norway, we have 4 confirmed cases today, all of them so far with fever, but otherwise mild symptoms. They test thousands of people, just in this tiny country ( 5 million) with test results in within a day, and sometimes even quicker. They introduced a number you can call specific for coronavirus cases, questions etc, and in Oslo they have a "fever patrol ( I know it sounds ominous, but it isnt), that come by request to people's homes, let them do a test, give them advice, support etc, and talk with them, check up on them, etc to make sure they're okay until they're well again.

I agree. The sacrifice and responsibility are too one sided, and the hypocrisy is rampant.

Deepest thanks to the people of China for delaying this for so long. The world has a tough road ahead. Let's use this to keep working together to help one another and show compassion rather than selfishness.

I'm a Chinese citizen and I'm with you this time! I think my government really should do something about it this time and stop being a super nice guy under a situation like this.

Not sure if this will help or not, but it doesn't cost much to give it a try. You can try to find the mini program on wechat called "国务院客户端"。 In this mini program, there is a section dedicated to the virus related issues, and in that section, there is a panel where you can leave a comment of whatever you want to suggest or complain about the incompetence of the government.
I guess probably you should also try to complain on Weibo with hashtag of "人民日报" “共青团中央” etc. (those accounts belong to the government-related media, your Chinese friends will know them, tag as many as you can think of) to complain about your concern, and of course the more people like/share it the better.
I'm also concerned about the issue you raised.

You might be the first westerner who accuses China for NOT being badass enough. Daniel you are gold!😝

It’s not pointing fingers that should bother anybody, it’s the complete and total denial of it at all that is the scariest thing there is.

I totally agree with you! Wasted time, wasted money, wasted effort, if there are exemptions.

Thank you for being truthful and allowing yourself to let things off your chest. Hope it helped (helps me whenever I can do it). You must, in fact, do it whenever you need it or you'll go crazy. We are all the same here, all feel the same and we all need to stand strong together, support each other, even if we are separated by distances or by any other kinds of dividers. Thank you for continuing making your videos and for speaking the truth, no matter how hard to deal with or painful that truth might be. Stand strong, everyone, and make sure you are staying as safe as possible!

You realize that only those governments that don't trust the Chinese government put travel restrictions in place. I'm from the EU and most European countries didn't do that because they didn't want to hurt their China relationship. In fact the Chinese government demanded not to put in travel restrictions. Same goes for China itself they don't want to hurt their own international image by preventing travel.

It's amazing to see how poorly the US has been handling this situation. I'm very worried about the next few weeks when it becomes painfully obvious that this outbreak has been here for weeks and has just been undetected. It completely boggles my mind how many anecdotes I've read of people either coming to the doctor with concerns they may be infected but not getting tested because of the guidelines or worse, getting tested and then getting billed over a thousand dollars for the test when this is literally a national security issue and citizens should be awarded for coming forward with their concerns, not punished with a bill that most are not at all able to pay. The US is so poorly underprepared for the public health disaster this will cause, I just hope the people in charge of the response are prepared to nationalize the health bills for people infected or we will see a lot of people refusing to go to the doctor before it's way too late...

I feel you man. We just got a notice from our community management that a lot of Koreans are coming back to work now, and there are lots of them living in my community. No quarantine at all. I mean, holy hell man. Especially with the situation in South Korea right now! Insane!

I don't blame you and you have every right to be angry with this double standard plus Mr. Nice Guy is being genuinely TOO NICE.

The original sentence I read today is “Many countries have responded with containment attempts, despite the dubious efficacy and inherent harms of China’s historically unprecedented crackdown. (of this coronavirus)”
“Despite the apparent ineffectiveness of such measures - relative to their inordinate social and economic cost, at least- the crackdown continues to escalate.”
Last sentence “The expectation that any area would escape the effects of COVID-19 must be abandoned: The disease must be seen as everyone’s problem.”
