Xbox One X vs. $500 PC - Destiny 2 & ACO Benchmarks

preview_player
Показать описание
Some preliminary testing of an Xbox One X versus a $500 cheap gaming PC, testing Destiny 2 and Assassin's Creed Origins for framerate performance.

This content piece looks at the benchmark performance of a $500 Xbox One X vs. a $500 PC in Destiny 2 & Assassin's Creed: Origins. As stated in the video, this is a small sample size of two games, and is not representative of the whole; also as stated, no one would reasonably attempt 4K on a 1050 Ti -- but listen to the disclaimers before the charts and you'll be up to speed. This is primarily an academic exercise, at this point. The content contains an Xbox One X vs. PC graphics comparison for Destiny 2 & Assassin's Creed: Origins, along with Xbox vs. PC game benchmarks and FPS.

You should do a 1000$ MSRP vs 1000$ current price build, it would be interesting to see how much better the MSRP system would perform.

I hate platform exclusive titles. Other than that I don't care. Want a console? -Use that. Want a computer? -that is also fine.

It's nice to hear a reasonable perspective on the whole "PC vs Console" non-debate.

Between the Xbox and PC footage and stills you show, it seems like the PC versions of both games have a higher brightness or gamma or something, is that all it is? Like 10:54 is a great second to pause at, why is it SO much brighter or sort of washed out looking for the PC version? I'm genuinely asking because I see this in other videos too where they compare like this, I just don't know what causes that. Thanks! Awesome video as always!

I completely agree with this video, I am a PC user, I will always be a PC user, but if youre looking for the best FPS/$ you should be looking at a console. Microsoft and Sony get money for every game you buy, Nvidia, intel, AMD, ram manufacturers, etc DONT. Console companies can produce millions of identical consoles, PC users want variety which means more $$. I will stand by mouse and keyboard being better, as well as getting more out of the system, and being able to upgrade.

Steve is 100% right here, dont take it as an attack on PC gaming, take it as a comparison that shows you can no longer build a PC better than a console for cheaper. This isnt PC vs Console, its PC vs Price.

Inb4 miners figure out a way to use the Xbox x gpu to mine and their prices skyrocket as well.

This comparison doesn't really make sense, because you need a pc anyways and even the cheapest decent Laptop is going to cost you around 200$. So you should really have compared the One X to a 700$ PC.

Not a good time to compare with ram costing half the entire computers worth.

Great analysis. Until the hardware market stabilizes (hopefully sooner than later), the xXxboxXx and PS4 Pro have become a bit of a bargain. Living in Europe as a rule of thumb you already had to add about 100€ to your PC budget to match or exceed console performance, but it has gone quite worse these last months.

Excuse my ignorance, but do consoles have a 1080p 60fps option that you can use? Because I'd be way more interested in that than 4K30 if I were to buy an XBoneX or PS4Pro

The most important factor to what entertainment platform you should choose is: WHAT DO YOU NEED IT FOR? If you want portability, choose a nintendo switch, if you want a easy to setup entertainment box that are able to play games, watch movies/series and can support local co-op, choose a xbox one x (Or a PS4 pro if you like the games it can offer) or if you want a entertainment box that can do anything you want (and if you have the money for it) you choose a PC, the only limit to a PC is the ammount of money you want to spend on it.... I have a PC built arround a i7-7700k and a gtx1080ti, but i also have a 3ds and a switch for my gaming needs on the go... (i also have a xbox one (the old fat one) in my closet, but we dont speak of that one...)

I just switched to PC for the first time and I'm 41 I should have done this sooner.

At 15:15 is the key summary of both approaches: "cinematic, " high res but low framerates approach on the console side, while the similarly priced PC shines at lower res with higher frame rates. I'm surprised to see how consistently the Xbox can keep its lower framerates as close as possible to their target though, even if "cheating" with dynamic resolution. Great analysis and video! Looking forward to some more comparisons like this, maybe with some other games, and also if possible with the Playstation.

I appreciate you showing an unbiased comparison. I'm a PC player and tech junkie, but I hate seeing so many PCMR people pretending a console is just overpriced compared to PC when it comes to raw horsepower. They're close. You basically just make a choice between flexibility and ease of use. Some value one over the other, no big deal.

Great video. I believe both have their own specific purposes. This shows there is an alternative for playing games while waiting for prices to come down. You can play the latest games on a console right now and wait to invest in an upgraded PC later on.

I'm just impressed you managed to build a $500 PC in early 2018. 😲

@Gamers Nexus, can you guys do a comparison of this PC and the XboneX @ 1080p to see the comparison in framerates when this PC is where it should be vs the XboneX is in its "performance" mode? (or whatever each game calls it).

Love that you guys begin with presenting your test methodology rather then just throwing numbers out there.

So if i would buy this pc for 550 dollars i still cant play any games without an operating system, keyboard and mouse, which can add another 150 dollar, and its STILL significantly worse than the one x. Not to mention the lack of a 4k uhd player on the pc
