As a dedicated Initial D fan the anime is 1:1 with the manga so it's alright at best and relies too much on nostalgia than building a new narrative.

For anyone who wonder why Tesla not in MF Ghost.

"Self-Driving Cars" it means car with "high-capability" assist car.

for example: AMG GT-S, Porsche 911 991 GT3, and Nissan GT-R Nismo MY17.

Those cars had such assist control like paddle shift gear/triptonic gear shift, traction control, throttle stability, Anti Brake System (ABS), etc. (cmiiw)

Tesla doesn't have kind of those, it completely Auto-Drive rather being Assist-Driving car.
