Interstellar in 2014 and The Martian in 2015 were recommended because they were good movies.

I like all these movies and appreciate seeing Edge of Tomorrow, which was very underrated. However, this list is skewed to fairly recent movies. Moreso, I think Ready Player One and The Martian are both better books than movies. The movies were just decent. There are older movies that stand the test of time and I would argue are better than these. This list seems to be harder sci-fi rather than space opera/space fantasy so I will limit my recommendations to that sub genre. Predator, Aliens, T2, The Matrix… yes they are all part of film series that include big duds, but as stand alone films each of these are all spectacular sci fi adventure films. Maybe more controversial but still extremely solid: Her, Dark City, Akira, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, Mad Max: Fury Road, Gattaca, E.T., … I think I could go on for longer but I would put any of those higher than Ready Player One.

I know it's a bit corny, but my personal favorite is the movie: Lifeforce

All these films are amazing if you're into SciFi, but my personal favourite is "Edge of Tomorrow". "Inception" is probably the most difficult to understand, I've watched it already 3 times and have still to figure it all out, but that doesn't reduce the entertainment value.

I love each and every one of these films I saw them in the cinema and I own them on disc, not only be blown away by these sci-fi wonders but the audience reactions were also incredible, especially when exiting the cinema people dissecting and discussing every little piece of the film it was something that I had not seen since the golden era of 70's cinema I won't list all those amazing films but if you were young and saw them you know how great it all was.

Edge of tomorrow is the only movie worth of top5.

Well, this top 5 combines action sci-fi movies that focuses on action (Ready Player One, Inception, Edge of Tomorrow) with hardcore sci-fi movies that are about the solution of problems (Martian, Interstellar). It will be more interesting to create two separate top 5 for these two categories.
Also, in the "action sci-fi", there should be definitely at least Ghost in the Shell or Matrix, and also District 9 or Elysium. From the older ones Terminator 2 and Aliens.
In the hardcore sci-fi, there should be movies like Space Odyssey 2001 or 2010: The year we make a contact, also movies like Arrival or Contact, Gattaca, Ex machina...

Interesting part on some of these trailers is that the soundtracks used are not the movie soundtracks giving them a completely different vibe.

I would replace the number 5 in your list by ARRIVAL and I would put Interstellar at the first place.

Great list! Fun just watching these clips. I think Interstellar is a bit overrated, though it did have some really good scenes, and i loved the "4th dimension" scene. Someone else mentioned 5th Element, and i agree; it was a very unusual story and lots of fun. Also Minority Report. But still, i think you made great choices. Thanks!
