Dr. Lee, thank you! I have been having a terrible rash no doctors can figure out. Today, I got biopsy results on a rash that it is indeed a drug allergy. It has just been getting progressively worse over time, slowly. I take several medications, so it could take a while to decipher which one. However, with this information, I can almost certainly think it's Topamax for my migraines and just call my neurologist since I'm allergic to the sulfa antibiotic and break out in terrible rashes and hives all over and facial swelling if I take it or even Celebrex!
Again, thank you so much! I hope this is my answer! God bless!

Something interesting to add. Just had an allergic reaction sulfa after 8 days of antibiotics and after watching your video I can recall the rare times having wine, I’d immediately break out in a hives like rash on my neck and chest. I always suspected I had an allergy to wine or sulfites. Maybe it’s related. 🤔

Excellent and articulate explanation. Thank you.
Need a similar myth-debunking video on “iodine allergy” to show those practitioners who unfortunately do not use povidone-iodine prophylaxis in surgery/procedures on patients with ‘shellfish allergy’.

So I have a UTI and was prescribed Sulfatrim. Granted the UTI symptoms have subsided but I have a bunch of other symptoms - dull headache, no food interests me, but I do feel hungry, weakness in arms and legs, back pain, extreme thirst, mid back pain and fatigue, leg fatigue and the word pain could be used, itchy under my skin, which moves around - one second in my toes then in my hands and then in my neck, arms, it moves around. I have difficult concentrating - watching tv is hard work, I go from being cold to being too hot but with no fever and the only finding today from my doctor is that my heart rate was a little low. I am uncomfortable in my skin and feel like I am anxious. My urine culture came back sensitive to sulfatrim. Blood tests are good. So if the uti is being tackled by the sulfatrim, then perhaps I have an allergic reaction to something. My husband and I were trying to figure out what I may have consumed since 4 days ago. So it is 1:20 am and I wake up after a short sleep and am wondering if perhaps I could be having an allergic reaction to Sulfatrim. From what I read, it could very well be. I have 6 days left to take. Should I ask the doctor to take me off the this? I am very unwell and worry I will go nuts from the ich.

If I had a throat swelling reaction to Sumatriptan, would I be safe to try Zolmitrptan if it doesn't contain sulfas but is still a triptan? Sumatriptan is the only medication I've ever had an "allergic" reaction to.

What about tamsulosin and Hctz, both have sulfa moiety. Does that fall under the low risk of cross reactivity and would you give them a test dose? Thanks for all you do this was a great video!
