Patagonia Films presents Treeline, a film celebrating the forests on which humans have always depended. Follow a group of skiers, snowboarders, scientists and healers as they explore the birch forests of Japan, the redcedars of British Columbia and the bristlecones of Nevada, delving deeper into the rich environments they call home.

Rivers and seas would have been my first thought for where human settlements started (plentiful supply of water). Then again, forests supply firewood and building material, so maybe he's right?

Dunno, just seems an odd thing to suggest we 'belong' to forest edges. What natural resource is _your_ town/city located near, people? I'd be interested to hear.
