It certainly not free for the Linux developers to maintain the distros. They spent their time, effort and money from their day jobs to make this excellent software. People who are appreciative should support their work with a donation.

I do think that the control/freedom aspect is important to emphasize, as the privacy and customizability aspects are what drives actually interested people to Linux. That's what made me move over (and I can't go back).

When it comes to promoting it as $free/cost saving software, I fully agree with your point. I've been guilty of using that argument myself in the past, but you're absolutely right, people automatically and instinctively assume that a $free product is worse. Subbed, good luck!

1:46 - right off the bat nobody cares about the philosophical zealotry. People need to abandon that as a selling point. People just want their system and software to work and get out of their way so they can go about their day. as far as customization goes most people only care about the ability to move their taskbar around, and maybe a couple variants of light and dark mode themes. That's kind of it.

btw linux does not distroy windows lol .. i had some takes on the comments here but linux will never ever destroy windows anytime soon with a userbase of 4.5% but when I started using suse 6 in 1996 it was just 0.5% of desktop? Linux is a different mind set then windows I think we don't snoop from the normal windows users but more the sysops who always used linux headless. But it will gain over time and when it needs to come to 30% it will take like I guess 20 years from now. There will be momentum later on in in linux its life but it will be snooping for now and we are at 4.5% now. Enjoy the moment we can only go up.
