Hello movie lovers! What is the most popular based on novel movie series? I have picked 4 famous novels based movie series and compared their gross ticket sales from 2001. 2001 was the year when J.K. Rowling's first Harry Potter film: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's stone premiered. It is also the longest running novel based movie in this group. So no surprise that it makes the top of the list. The only Lord of the rings series that was able to surpass Harry Potter and took first spot for a few year was the Lord of the rings: the return of the king. I included the fantasy novel - Twilight and The Hunger Games in this comparison because of their high publicity and popularity when they first came out. ( I remember that many girls went crazy for Twilight back in the days...)

Gotta love how Harry Potter only split the last movie only because they literally had too much book to adapt, and then everyone else thought it was the next successful fad. It's also hilariously pathetic that Twilight did this only a year after the Deathly hallows concluded.
