@JSnipa The name gingerbread is the codename for android version 2.3, froyo is 2.2, honeycomb is 3.0 and the next too be released version of android is being called ice cream (sandwich). Reasons for updating android versions is smoother performance, increased functionality, etc - hope this helps

@JSnipa Gingerbread is the code names given to android software version 2.3... Version 2.2 was given the name Froyo, and android 3.0 for tablets was given the name honeycomb, the next software version for android phones yet to be released has been called Ice Cream (sandwich). Hope this helps

@kayjay178 I agree specially on the screen. My Nexus One is barely usable outdoors in sunlight, I have to go in my car or get under good shade to see the screen.

@ithree6mafia The Nexus has definitely held up well since it was released, likely because it was so far ahead of its time back in January. The hardware has obviously been surpassed at this point, but I honestly haven't felt urged to upgrade. It's actually somewhat of a disappointment that the Nexus S hardware is so current, if that makes sense. I would have expected google to push for something more advanced for its flagship device, rather than basically a rebranded Galaxy S.

Top reasons why I want a nexus s from my current nexus 1..better screen I get so tired of not being able to use my n1 in sunlight and nexus s screen shits on nexus 1 screen(2 all black everything U gotta admit the nexus s looks sleeker than a mo fo and in the hand it does not feel like cheap plastic(my opinion)3)16 gb of storage idk about U but I don't wanna go through the hassle of changing my SD card slot 16 gb of storage seems perfect 4 me..and of course gingerbread and front facing camera!

I bought this phone years ago to develop on and it sat in a box. Now that I crack it open to see if it's useful, it runs as slow as my old Droid. I remember when it first came out, it ran zippy fast and blazed past the Droid. I don't understand. I have the Vodaphone version I got through Target online. How do I check if mine has a different processor or hardware than yours? It looks exactly the same.
