I start off with a basic update of things going on here and some details about the pond, but move on to a conversation I had with a nice lady in a grocery store about her story on how her horse bit her. This is a subject I want to talk about as it has to do with safety around horses and how to have them be safer around and with you.

However, your way is much more diplomatic and tactful than Rick Gore's way. Poor Rick, gets attacked from women, and mostly English riding women, who hate cowboy types.

With my arabian stallion it was lack of trust. Once he learned to trust he quit biting. He was never bad with other horses. He also no longer kicks and rarely strikes or charges now. He occasionally charges just to see if I'll move my feet. I tell him he's a very silly horse as he stops in front of me and his ears perk back up.

Love the Sher-Wood hockey stick. Played D into my mid 30 and was a USA Hockey Level 4 Official for years.

Nice to see your place as it was before ! So much work accomplished. Thank you for your explanation. Horses can be as rough with people as they are with other horses, no difference, if we let them. It's their way to communicate but people don't know and say they are bad horses. This reminds me I was once bit by a club horse without warning as I was taking him out of his stall in a narrow corridor. Perhaps as you say, he wanted me to move out of his space but he felt no exit for him, so walking behind me, he grabbed my shoulder, leaving a big blue mark only as I was wearing a coat. I was scarred of him afterwards. Poor horses, he was just fed up with humans all day long.

Great explanation. From time to time you should just make your horse move his feet. That makes you the high horse.

Have you heard about the book 'Language Signs and Calming Signals of Horses: Recognition and Application' by Rachaël Draaisma. It talks about horses' small signals to tell others, us too, that it feels uncomfortable or pleased :) I have not read it yet, but I think it sounds really interesting and important to everyone.

I have seen it from Rick Gore's P.O.V., where if a horse comes in on you disrespectfully, ears pinned, teeth bared, and it wants to push you, push back, make it run away from you, and do it as many times, as it takes the horse to get it. When a horse shows submission and respect, then it can approach you. He makes sure that horse knows he is higher than the horse that is trying to push him.

My new gelding was in his stall and I was in the aisle next to him talking to someone and he lunged and bite my arm while my back was turned. I corrected him immediately but he has never offered to bite before or be dirty at all. How would you propose I go about this as he left a good bruise and I don’t feel like getting another one lol I did put carrots in his feed dish and he was getting pretty cranky with the pony in the next stall. Thanks :)

Just be the high horse of the herd and the horses will give way!

What do you mean, Macaroni was wrecked? Literally?

I don't think I'm going to argue with a horse. It sounds like they can be manipulative.
