How Bulletproof Jackets Save Lives?
Показать описание
Imagine someone gets shot while wearing a bulletproof jacket. Will the jacket protect them? Let's break it down. When fired, a bullet travels towards the bulletproof jacket at a speed of about 2,000 kilometers per hour. The jacket has four layers designed to stop the bullet. First, the bullet hits a ceramic disc, which slows it down and flattens its tip. Next, it encounters a layer of fiber that is ten times stronger than steel, absorbing the bullet's energy. Then, it meets a thick version of the armored fiber layer, which works similarly by absorbing even more energy. Finally, the bullet hits a polyethylene layer, which melts upon impact and stops the bullet completely. Thanks to these four layers, the bulletproof jacket can effectively protect the person wearing it.
