When using the smart lift gate feature does the smart key need to be in close proximity or will the trunk open when anyone is around it?

Unfortunately the boot floor cannot be lowered as my wheels are 245 45 R19, default tyres on my 2017 Kia Sportage GT line. Sad. Can't even hide my cover below there as it's hitting the spare wheel.

It wont work on the top models. The spare tire (19") blocks the space to fix the privacy cover or push down the cover for the extra space :/

I have kia sportage 2018 model us specs, the unit in the LCD TFT 4.2" is only in us miles, I'm trying to change to km on the setting but no way, I wish to know if it's possible to update the software of instrument cluster or the dashboard.
