This movie is childhood memories for me. Happy to see you reviewing this late 90s movie.

This was my very first horror film, a 90s classic to this day

Christopher Walken has often said that he does not need to 'look' evil since he can do it on his own, and considering he's played a James Bond villain, a Batman villain (well a Batman villain named an actor who played a vampire, Max Shreck, well it's missing the c but his Batman Returns character is named in honor of Count Orlock's actor), he's played a 'dark angel' more than once (in four movies specifically Click and The Prophecy trilogy as well as a Madonna music video, and a cut for time SNL skit), he's played a vampire and a cyborg, and also quite a few mob bosses. Walken in real life is scared of horses, and I did not know that at first. Although if Walken's take on the Horseman could talk, i just imagine he'd have Walken's own regular voice just a bit deeper or maybe have a bit of an accent.

I feel that Sleepy Hollow is basically Burton doing a combination of a Hammer homage and with nods to slasher movies, because the horseman even sits up like Michael Myers, and also a bit of an Evil Dead influence given the blood and also the 'witch' in the tree scene looking kind of like a deadite. The bleeding tree is a cool effect I definitely must add, but the eyes...seriously Walken's eyes are hypnotic enough to make you think he is a real vampire (but there's something about Walken with those eerie blue eyes). Silly, yes but it's kind of Evil Dead-esque, more like Army of Darkness, but still Evil Dead-esque. Also interesting that there are 3 sith lord actors in this movie.

I think Christopher Walken was the best choice to play the headless horseman. That's genius casting.
