what claire foy did incredibly well was get the intonation and pausing right when she spoke. that was very effective

one of my friends used to teach at drama school and she was one of his students actually. he said she never stood out in a "wow, she's a star" sense, but what she did incredibly well was take directions and notes. if the director told her to change something, she'd note it down, and she *would* change it, which is very important when you're an actor
