I'm a firm believer in wearing a helmet when out with the chainsaw, too. Not just eye protection. Cut up a log two years ago that happened to have some sort of metal shrapnel grown into it where I wasn't able to see it. Chain got caught, snapped and hit me right over the head.

Quite frankly, I would probably have not survived that from a Husqvarna 370XP.

Yo Thoren, I have never split wood in my life and I'm honestly not entirely sure _why_ your videos ended up recommended to me BUT I'm glad they did because as fate would have it there is a big mf of a tree stump in a no man's land at the back of my house; long-term goal is to claim said land and dispose of the tree stump without having to spend a small fortune on tree surgeons, and your videos are providing loads of insights to make this a feasible reality (and it'd be a welcome change to my gym workouts, just for an added bonus hah). I've seen a sledge on wedge accident first hand. Metal sliver from the wedge buried itself in his bicep. He wasn't wearing eye protection, no body did in the '60's, so he was very lucky.

Biggest tip I can give is spend some money and get extremely comfortable eye protection (anti-fog helps for this type of work). That way you forget it's on. And that way you're more likely to be wearing it when you need it.

I switched my axe head choice because of your videos. I chop 3 and 4 foot long logs. I always wear eyewear because I do have to hit metal on metal due to the length of the logs.
