Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office welcomes 28 new deputies to the team

The new graduates went through extensive training and are now prepared to protect and serve the community. Right now, the sheriff's office is offering signing bonuses, paid training and tuition reimbursement along with other benefits. The group was sworn into office before their family, friends and command staff.

The moment we are born we enter a world where every creature is in competition with every other for available resources including the knowledge to exploit those resources. In time YOU realize that whomever controls resources will rule to an extent, but THEY discovered long ago that he who controls the minds will rule absolute. The long game has been survival, which creates competition, which requires knowledge, power and influence to maintain an advantage. We’re taught that knowledge is power, and it is, but as we have seen over time it appears that influence, at times can be more powerful than knowledge because it causes a person to ignore all common sense, all that they “know”, allow themselves to be swept up in the moment, become part of the herd, do dumb things, wrong things, actions that are unexpected by family and friends, behaviors totally out of character. Influence can also keep people in line, create an echo chamber where ideology and dogma are reinforced. Having influence over another human being, the ability to sway opinion, to get people to willingly do what you want them to do, (and this is the real trick) especially when it is harmful to them, not in their own self interest, or worse…it harms others. I have read about a fella named Voltaire who said. “Those who can make you believe absurdities, can make you commit atrocities”. As true as Murphy’s Law…let’s take that idea and run with it. Over centuries a small group of people will recognize that the power of influence can defeat a standing army without firing a single shot, but also in times where an army is needed the power of influence gets those boots and rifles pointing and marching in the preferred direction. Hmmm, psychology and the science of behavior…should I really be surprised that Bernays was influenced by his uncle, Sigmund Freud. What a stew, throw in a little Pavlov…Mmm, makes your mouth water don’t it?
