Newhaven, not far from where I live, Brighton. I don't make 1/24 kits but I'm really tempted with the Spitfire.

I worked in a plant here in the U.S. that did injection molding. Some of our molds weighed 16 tons (!) and we used radio-controlled cranes to move them from place-to-place. You have to cope with temperature extremes while molding, as each cycle increases the heat in the mold, which changes the flow of the plastic, so heated and cooled water (depending on mold temperature) is continuously circulated through both mold halves to maintain a narrow temperature band. I really have to hand it to the mold designers though. Half science and half art, getting all those weird shapes to fill correctly with no overfilling or underfilling. Thanks for the inside look, Wayne!

I remember building a large scale (1:24 sounds about right) Spitfire in the 1970s, probably Airfix.

Wow, the process to make these models and the precision of it. Amazing. Nice kit! Looks like it's got some fantastic detail to it. I'm thinking that'll have to be added to my closet collection, LOL

question is there 1/72 scales improved in the build quality?

Thanks for a great video. I love watching and learning how things are made. I assume all the sprues were made at the same time. How long did it take for each sprue, and how many complete boxes did they produce per day. How many other companies are making the same kit. and is that too many questions.

Hi wayne in the 70s airfix made iconic model figures of Charles the 1st and others it would be nice if they could retool and make these again

Technically the the large point or riser where the machine injects the plastic, which is snapped off prior to packing is called the sprue - what you get in the box is 'runners' colloquialism within the hobby has turned these for certain modellers into sprues. Pedant corner rant over! Do you think Phil should turn into 'Runner-Verse' 👌👍😂
