In case this is helpful to anyone you can also apply elements of this technique in google slides if you don't have photoshop. I just used a GS frame on an image on an otherwise blank slide and then downloaded as a PDF and imported to Canva and it worked perfectly. My only issue now is I don't see how I can add this new style of frame to library, but I can at least copy and paste across projects.

at 4:19 you delete the image and the custom frame is left, but If I click on my image and delete it, it's just gone, no frame left.
