PGA Tour 2K25 Review - One of The Best PGA Games In Years

Golf is simultaneously a game of calm concentration and stressful anticipation. Capturing that feeling - along with the physics, responsiveness, and fierce competition - that make up the sport is no easy task. Even HB Studios seemed to falter in this endeavor with PGA Tour 2K23.

Two years later, it's back with a much more refined and polished product, even if MyCareer can play it a little safe. You create a MyPlayer again and embark on a quest to conquer the PGA Tour (or start at earlier points). The various Archetypes, attributes, skill trees, and customizable equipment may seem overwhelming, but there's some incredible atmosphere and gameplay to experience.

So it's a shame that such a significant chunk is hindered by the progression, which has seen massive nerfs to the amount of VC players can earn. Don't get us wrong - PGA Tour 2K25 stands strong in many areas that matter, but less stingy progression would have gone a long way.

Never in life will i buy VC. Just play the game a it comes. We give these people enough money for the purchase of the game.

The announcers are dry AF. I miss when they cracked jokes and all that back in the Tiger 03 and 04 days

It was great until it wasn't. On launch day they halved the VC rewards and doubled the price of items in the superstore. It's now 200+ hours to get one of your MyPlayers to 99 OVR. Crazy for a casual player. It costs 175 VC to apply one of your already EARNED attribute skill points (and you have to apply 4 of these to go up +1 OVR), for contrast it costs 50 VC to enter a daily tournament and you get 56 VC for playing 18 holes. That is utterly insane. They also nerfed the shot shaping so if you want to intentionally draw or fade the ball around the course you have an impossibly narrow swing path to hit for it. What a fail. A pair of shoes cost 900+ VC, and you have to buy the male and female variant separately.

Wow a properly done video that included launch day and not just the hype from early access.
I agree they’ve got so much right with this game to just ruin it like that on lunch day is unbelievable.
I don’t really have much hope in the company, not trying to force this down our throats.
I requested a refund. How disappointing it turned out to be 😢

So, its basically a free to play format. Has good enjoyable mechanics, and has an incentive to pay more real money to level up quicker. Difference is of course you pay full price for the game. Its the way of gaming, always trying to milk the customer more and more for a game that will be obsolete by summer.

I really wanted to buy this as I loved the demo but 90$ before tax in Canada and an intentional performance to player progression makes it a hard no. For 90$ it shouldn't be as pay to win as it is

Read the reviews and willing to spend money on this game, but the intentional money grab is keeping me away. Great job community, don't BUY VC. Boycott games that use this slimy method if not it will only get worse.

Disagree with this review completely. This game is not worth $70. It’s hardly an upgrade on 23, Theres too many monetisation systems at work and as a result the menus look like a mobile game. The customisation is lacklustre, the ball physics are inconsistent and the new swing mechanic is way too easy.

I don't understand how in Quick Play when you play an official course you can't change the time of day and weather. In Career Mode, when playing at a fictional course, the pin placement is the same on each day. Why? Next, why can you only save a limited number of courses under My Favorites? But my personal favorite issue are the ludicrously bright fairways and greens when playing in clear, or, light cloudy conditions, they are so bright it looks like when a flashbang grenade goes off in COD. I actually have to constantly use the green reader because of the fuckin brightness. Seriously, 2K, fix these simple issues! Other than that, I still feel like the overall gameplay was better in 2k23 than this, so, kind of disappointed.
