Simple and Quick Jeep JL/JT Aux Battery Delete

preview_player
Показать описание
The Jeep JL and JT have Aux batteries. Yep, you heard me correctly, there are two batteries. One for starting the engine and the other is used to keep things running during the Auto Stop/Start cycles. While this sounds great, there are issues when the Aux battery starts to die. Once you Aux battery stops holding its charge, it will cause your main battery to drain; thus you not being able to start your engine. The other common issue is with the Aux battery’s voltage low it will block you from starting the engine even with a fully charged main battery. Lastly, the Aux battery is not the easiest thing to change. So, don’t let the Aux battery leave you stranded - get it disabled/bypassed today.

The F42 fuse removal will bypass ESS from Aux battery but NOT delete function. It will just move function to Main battery once cables are removed. You will still to use dashboard button to Auto/Start off. Or use a Tazer or Autostop Eliminator plug in for custom program.

Thank you. Saved me big money by canceling dealership appointment.. 10 minute fix.

Thanks for this simple and short video. I ran into this exact problem recently and had no idea what had caused it. Luckily mine was still under warranty and the dealer has to fix it (replace the aux battery). Now the ESS doesn’t function anymore—and I hated it anyway.

My daughters New JL was having the rear camera go out and not work after a few months. We bypassed the aux battery and now the camera works fine. Apparently the aux battery was already dying after a few months. Such a poor system. I love the jeeps but maybe that system needs some actual thought put to it

I still have have a big glowing A! showing on my dash. How Do I get rid of that?

Every video say connect the wire and fuse back up when going to the dealer. Why, if warranty has expired? Wouldnt that bring up the dash warning again so they will try to ding you for more money? Or is there something else they would go after if it wasnt hooked up?

I’ve seen other videos that didn’t mention removing the fuse and it worked … any thoughts?

I did that on my 2018 Rubicon along with an Autostop Eliminator, but never removed a fuse. Never had any problems but sold it shortly afterwards. The thing was a lemon.

FYI, I have a JL (2023 High Tide) 3.6 manufactured 1-23 by the vin sticker. There is no longer a aux battery below the fuse box. first clue was the neg batt. cable has changed to a single large wire. (If your 22 has the single wire neg connection it's probably the same). there is still they tray but no longer a battery. Not sure if they changed the system due to issues or not, just thought i would save you some time. I didn't see a TSB addressing this.

I have a 2021 4 cylinder. If the aux is dead and you do this process will the dead aux still drain the main battery?

W hat would happen if, under warranty, and everything is disconnected and you bring the Jeep in for service without reconnecting the battery and reinstalling the fuse?

Just did this and my light is still on. Does that mean it isn’t the aux battery?

Hi Brad i watched your video about the Snorkel you had from rugged ridge and how you switched to a hood vent and an S&B air intake box setup. Ive been trying to identify the hood and vents and hood liner as well as the air intake box setup, i’d really like to do the same thing with my 2010 Rubicon JK. Any advice or info you could sent me would be greatly appreciated.

i'm getting rid of my '21 GLadiator because of this..gone thru 2 dead batteries already, just tired of dealing with it in general.. plenty of vehicles with the start/stop that don't drain the battery..

Im getting the AUX message, went to remove the AUX battery battery from behind the fender liner, it’s NOT inside the box. Went and check my fuse box and Fuse 42 is NOT there. I bought this New straight off the delivery truck in 2021…. So do I just replace the main battery with a stronger one ?

I’ve done the disconnect and pulled the fuse on my 2019 JL and I still have the warning message. Been on there for 3 days now.
