100% agree on the annoying reverse lights not actually meaning someone is in reverse.

DOT still has antiquated laws from the 50s but ignores this.

The reverse lights activating on GMs when they’re actually not reversing is one of the most useless and confusing decisions I’ve ever seen made by a manufacturer. Why???!?! Like seriously, why?!?!?? There’s literally no reason for it. All it does is aggravate you that you wasted a minute of your time, thinking this Buick is going to back out of a spot, and it never does. Speaking from first-hand experience. Thank you for pointing this out Doug. 👍

GM took an arrow to the knee when they killed off pontiac & kept buick

I always forget Buick exists as a company until I return to the Midwest. It is like they do not exist outside of there.

I’ve had GM cars, my whole life and the only thing I can think on why this happens. Is that if you unlock your car to go load it or to get in it if someone is behind you in a parking lot they might be more inclined to stop when they see the reverse lights, giving you just a little bit more of pedestrian safety. But I really don’t know.

I F’n hate GM for continuing to use this feature (reverse lights when car is in park) on their cars!

The only thing dumber than the GM reverse light issue is that they stopped using Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. Even if I was dumb enough to buy a GM vehicle that’s going to keep me away every time.

My wife and I were in a parking lot last weekend, and said the same thing. Waiting for the guy to back out, then seeing him walk away and those lights are on. During the day. Poor product design/development.

New logo is clean ngl. Better than the Kia rebrand 😊

I never let GM cars out of their spots for this reason. I assume they aren't in the car and make them wait for me to pass if they are. I also disabled this deficiency on my GM car.

For real!!!! GM reverse lights are the worst!

it’s actually convenient, if you’re loading your trunk up at night it’ll provide lighting

Coming from someone that doesn’t live in a very urban area this feature on my early 2000’s Silverado is actually useful. The point of it is to light up the back of the car when your approaching it in an unlighted area, say if your loading or unloading something out of the back in the dark.

Go into the DIC settings and turn off the lights for Lock and Unlock.

Another annoying thing about this and the current Bolt vehicles is that the brake and rear turn signal lights are located at the bumper, in which other drivers have to look down to see the brake and turn signal light, instead of eye level.

I think the only convenience about it would be the ability to check all your bulbs' conditions, a diagnostics mode, so to speak 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

You’re able to disable the reverse lights in the infotainment settings

Idk man, it does force every wary driver around to be cautious and not fly around your vehicle when you might be walking around it to reach different doors.
