After servicing this Cybernet 134 radio it was time to test it. During the test Mr chippie mentioned there was slight background noise when at high signal strength. Listening back to the recording from our Midland 76-900 base station there was indeed more nousw than expected. I changed three capacitors in the transmit audio section, where it branches off to go to the varicap diode. There had never been any noise on PA which uses much of the same circuitry. The final test to base station was then recorded & both tests are presented here.

Recorded 4th & 7th January 2025

Richard, 2E0FKC (Mr Chippie)

As usual, Mr Chippie drove along our 6-mile 'difficult terrain for radio' test route. He stopped at the 5-mile point to conduct a static test. Full power was checked at 4.0W. Low power was set to the correct 400mW on this set.

Our continued thanks to Thunderpole for kindly supplying the T3000 radio we use in the test vehicle at no cost to us. This is the sole reason for the 'paid promotion' flag on this video.

A brilliant scratchy corner test at all the key points, and a good improvement of the audio after the capacitor change.
