Illegal IPTV Streaming Services - How To Know the Difference

In this video I talk about how to tell the difference between an illegal IPTV service and a legal streaming service like YouTube TV. Illegal IPTV services offer thousands of channels for a very low price. Some people may not be aware they are using one. Using an IPTV service can get you disconnected by your internet service provider or even sued!

What's even more criminal is what the "legitimate" streaming services charge.

It happens because legal ones are too high in prices.

YouTube TV was $35 and then they raised the price to $65.

Tyler is a good young man. He's just showing his honesty and respect for the law like on that HBO movie I watched for free last night.

Tyler didn't mention the many streaming services that are legal (and free): Pluto TV, Samsung TV Plus, Tubi TV, Distro TV, Xumo TV, CBC Gem, Stirr, LocalBTV and many others. I believe he has done videos on Pluto TV, Stirr and LocalBTV previously.

You are testing antennas, and that is great. What we also could use is your opposite: a guy who uses the same antenna system, but tests different tvs to see which have the best antenna tuners. There are a lot of brands currently in stores that are made in Mexico. For all we know, all made in the same third party plant, with common parts like tuners, but each brand customizing the chip, display panel, and system ( roku, amazon, google) . Just like gasoline, shipped plain gas by pipeline, which then gets an additive package added at the terminal where the local gas stations get their brand supplied. 🤔🧐

Limewire is not a IPTV service. It's a peer to peer file sharing service. They got sue by the movie studios, and the TV networks and cable network around 14 or 15 years ago.
They didn't get shut down, cause the law enforcement service didn't want it shut down, cause some of the people were sharing illegal files of under age people and the law enforcement service wanted to arrest as many they can catch. They couldn't do so if Limewire and other file sharing service like were shut down.
So instead the Judge allow Limewire to continue service and to pay every legal file that was share to it copyright owner.

The reason IPTV has become so popular are the outrageous prices charged by cable and streaming services. I understand they have to raise prices due to price increases by media companies but that doesn’t mean we have to pay.

My biggest problem with over-the-air television is that there is not a single thing being broadcast that I want to watch. I can't think of a single television show that has aired on any channel, let alone the big broadcasters in my area, that would hold my interest at best or not upset me at worst. I'd love to be involved with antenna television, but there's nothing worth picking up.

I enjoy your videos. I also definitely agree with setting up a decent antenna, which I have done, and am able to get a decent amount of channels with it for free. Definitely no sense in paying a monthly fee for something when it's already free. Keep up the great work.

Tyler, I get where you're coming from, but I had no option when I built out my tvheadend system. I was able to tie in my 3 hdhomerun tuners with 3 different markets seamlessly with all of my other "cable" channels. I can map whatever channels wherever, and it'll pick which antenna is best for each channel based on priorities set for each channel in the server.

DirecTV didn't even give me the ability to watch the channels I paid for on my Linux desktop, let alone integrate it into this system, which is why I started looking at these alternatives and ultimately built out my own system using these providers.

The heavy handed approach the "legitimate" providers are taking in an attempt to put the genie back in the bottle backfired. On the plus side, my TV setup is the envy of everyone who sees it. Quick, responsive, ad free, and my antennas have internet backups they'll automatically switch to if the OTA loses lock for whatever reason. Whole home DVR with separate profiles for each household member, seamless network roaming..

You may not like the concept of illegal streams, but there is no legitimate way to accomplish this otherwise. I tried. This was my option. You'd understand if you ever got a chance to see just how good a TV setup can be when unshackled from the restrictions the providers place on them.

Demonize the providers if you wish, but some of us consumers have reasons to appreciate having this alternative option.

Not only having one cable Company in our area, but if you ever contact Costumer service, it's like the old saying, "we don't care, we don't have to".

The price of Live TV Streaming Services is getting to be higher in price. YouTube TV, Hulu Live TV, Sling TV, & Fubo TV have increased in price over the years. It is best to go with a couple of on demand streaming services & maybe rotate them every couple of months.

What about antenna for stander radio or what would you choose. My (old) Nissan at night could pick-up radio station from other STATES, AWAY, FROM TEXAS to Grand Ole Opry in Tennessee.

I'm so glad I got an antenna recommendation from Tyler. It was a good experience all around and I have confidence that I'm getting the most out of the airwaves at my location.

@antenna man, i have heard mixed confusing things about IP TV. i have the app on my LG smart TV that came with it already there, that would be legal but also there is a cost to use it correct?

This video was a little different than some of your others, but you’re something of a TV hero because you make the effort to repeat yourself teaching the fundamentals to new comers. Namely, you explain the curvature of the planet limiting the line-of-sight range of all antennas; and how there is no such thing as an HD or 4K antenna because it’s just bits of metal. I wouldn’t have the patience. Thanks for your effort.
