In today's One-Off video I share about my overall experience with the Apple Watch and why I decided to move back to a simple analog watch.

I'd love to hear about your experience and opinion of using smartwatches as opposed to not! Leave a comment down below and let's talk about it.

Cory from 2024 here:
Another year, another batch of wonderful (and passionate) viewers and commenters continue to spin by the video. It's great to see you here (unless you're mean, then not really).

Recently I've been sporting a Timex Weekender with a custom leather strap, which I'm really loving. Still got the Seiko, and between the two, they're covering all of my watch needs. Still no desire to return to an Apple Watch.

What watch are you wearing in 2024?

This saved me from an unnecessary purchase. Thanks for your honesty!

Yep I did the same. But my main reason (Just like Airpods) I got sick of always having to charge it every night. So I brought the TIMEX Expedition Scout (Analogue) Watch. Its powered by solar and it glows in the dark. It will never die. I did the same with my Apple Airpods got rid of them and now use regular headphones instead. The greatest thing now is that I only have to charge 1 device (my smartphone) every night instead of 3. Hope this helps

There really is a certain magic to looking at the sweep of a second hand on a mechanical watch, knowing that there’s a huge amount of cogs and springs underneath the dial working in perfect harmony. It’s lovey to look down at your wrist and have that break from the digital world!

Cory from 2022 here:
I have the same Apple Watch that I've had since 2019, but at one point it ran out of battery and I just forgot to charge it and put it on again 😂 I picked up a nice chrono watch here in Austria that I really like, I really love how I don't have to charge it all the time 😂

Please continue to be kind in the comments. The passion of the watch community is really cool, thanks for commenting and everything!

We all need to unplug and relax. I would like to suggest you leave ALL your electronics at home, pick-up a bottle of water and go for a walk. Let your mind unwind and discover the world around you that you missed looking at your iWhatever.

It is very therapeutic.

I totally agree with you. Technology is really became an addiction and it's making us less social.

Agreed. I use a G-Shock GW-5000, Seiko Samurai Diver, a Hamilton Field Watch, and a Casio Oceanus. Two quartz, one automatic, and one mechanical hand winder. Each for different occasions. More than I will ever need, really. Even if I only had one basic watch, I would be happier than if I had a smart watch.

Finally!!! I REAL person talking realistic. I was tempted to buy one, but the simplicity of having a regular watch for the time and date is more than a helpful tool. And that's all we need.

Yep. I have 2 watches. A cheap digital for day to day use and jogging. And a nice analog watch for dressing up a bit. That's it. Neither one ever needs charging and will probably last decades.

My smartwatch was telling me I've done 20 steps before I even got out of bed, 🙄 I also went back to a regular watch.

Still usefull! I was going back and forth about if I should make the switch to a smart watch. A lot of your reasons for no longer using yours are very close to the reasons I have not bought one to date, and you reminded me those reasons are still valid and current. Thank you!

I’ve slowly been using an analog watch myself. I realized how much I’ve missed using one! As for my Apple Watch I still use it as I used to as a fitness tracker and for long distance running (GPS). But now when I attend events I prefer to use my analog watch. It feels so good to be “disconnected” sort to speak! It’s crazy to say that but it’s true. I have configured my watch for specific notifications which has been ideal. Now just finding the balance between to two watches makes it a ton more fun!!

Great video. Thanks for sharing your experience. I totally had the same sentiment recently. I'm now back to wearing an inexpensive Seiko 5 automatic and love having a bit more "analog" in my life. Plus, I agree with you -- not having an extra charger when traveling is one less thing to worry about!

I owned an Apple Watch for two years. One day, I decided that I had enough of technology because my whole life was based on it.

Today, I've gone back to simple things: A small alarm clock wakes me up in the morning, a paper calendar organizes my life, a watch gives me the time and the date, a small notebook is used to take notes. In short, I have made technology a tool among others, and not my only way to manage my life.

Owning "physical" objects is like having toys as a child. There is something soothing and fun about it.

We won't lie, it's fascinating to be able to access your calendar or your messages with a flick of the wrist, but it's stressful to carry such a powerful object on your arm every day and you have to ask yourself "Do we really need it?

great honest review! I also went through a similar realisation as you. I bought a Garmin Fenix 3 to be my "do it all-watch". I used it for workouts, smart notifications and casual wear. After a while I gave up on the smart features and just used it to tell time and for workouts and ended up trading it for an analog Tissot this Christmas!

Great insights about this Cory. I've been back and forth on using mine as well. There are good aspects but I got so tired of charging it all the time for very little return on my effort.
