In our MikroTik CRS309-1G-8S+IN overview we show you this $270 switch we bought for the lab that has 8x SFP+ 10GbE ports. With 23W power consumption and no fans, it is also designed to run silently.

I know this is a VERY old switch and you covered some new multi gig rj45 switches, but for someone who wants a mix of RJ45 and Fiber this still seems like a solid choice for home use where 5 or 6 systems will use 10gb, and connect to a larger 1gb switch for the access layer.

Thank for the video. I'd be interested to see some configuration tutorial & benchmarks compared to similar and more expensive equipment.

ok, correction of terms. It is layer 2 and layer 3 not level 2 and level 3. Bridging is Layer 2. Layer 2 is switching. Google multiport bridge and you see that is the definition of a bridge. In other terms also called a multiport repeater. Layer3 is routing. You are mixing your terms up.

Hi Patrick ! Would be great to have a review of the CRS309 using for all SFP+ ports SFP-10G-T adapters !
May I also add a question : if my laptop enables let's say 2, 5G or 5G connections, will they pass through to the CRS309 switch with such adapters, or does the upstream with those adapters have to be also multigig in all cases for this to work ?

Am I reading it right that you got 80gbps (give or take) on an all port switching testing? So if someone is looking for a strictly switching 10G unit, this looks like it'll push all the packets without issue? Cheap yea, but last thing I want to do is make the jump to 10G just to be hamstrung by a cheap switch that can't actually push. Any optics issues?

I am new to SFP+ but when you said cages did you mean you actually do not get the transceivers to connect this to devices - so you cannot just plug in a fibre cable to the port and then into your pc/server with an SFP+ port - you actually have to go and buy 8 transceivers as well?

Can this switch work as internet router, so one SFP+ port will become WAN and rest will be behind NAT ?

How on earth is this a "Cloud Switch"?

Welp, I was hoping this was a 10GBASE-T switch. Alas. Call me when they release one of those.
