Welcome to @PhysioMedics. In this video, we are going to discuss warning signs of iron deficiency and symptoms of low iron levels.

Iron deficiency is a common nutritional disorder characterized by insufficient levels of iron in the body, leading to a variety of symptoms that can negatively impact overall health. Several warning signs serve as indicators of this condition. One of the most prominent symptoms is fatigue, as iron plays a crucial role in the production of hemoglobin, the protein responsible for transporting oxygen throughout the body. Individuals with iron deficiency may experience weakness, lethargy, and a general lack of energy. Another notable warning sign is pale or sallow skin, resulting from decreased hemoglobin levels. Brittle nails, along with spoon-shaped or concave depressions, known as koilonychia, can also signal iron deficiency. Additionally, individuals may exhibit shortness of breath, dizziness, and an increased susceptibility to infections due to compromised immune function. Pica, a condition where individuals crave non-food items like ice, dirt, or paper, can also be associated with iron deficiency. Regular health check-ups and monitoring for these warning signs are crucial for early detection and effective management of iron deficiency, which can be addressed through dietary changes, iron supplementation, or other medical interventions as recommended by healthcare professionals.

Thank you, I’m fatigued and occasionally get restless legs . I get short of breath and brain fog . My nails break and split . I’m on iron tablets and been referred to the respiratory clinic at a local hospital.
I’ve had this ten years and struggled, a new doc actually took action . My blood results were low re iron but the past docs said normal when they were not . They let me struggle and I work full time . Gained 8 kgs because I couldn’t exercise because I got so weak . Now I’m half way through treatment. Exercising for 30 mins whatever . My eyelids get so heavy and I nod off without realising at home . Work is very difficult. I forget words . I’m hoping that fixes . It’s embarrassing but I say why it happens .
I hope all
Of you that need help get it x

Most doctors are clueless and only detect it when you reach anemia. I was lucky to catch it before it got that bad. I took megadoses of zinc for a long time which lowered my copper. You need copper and cerruloplasmin to transport iron to your cells and bone marrow. I paid for a test and my ferritin (iron storage levels) were low but my other iron markers were low normal. I take 20mg heme iron every other day in the early morning and 2-4 mg copper glycinate. Slowly getting my levels up.
