This was on Loreena's first recording on have known her for a long time. She went out on her own, selling her cassettes from her car and eventually was offered a recording contract. She turned it down and opened her own studio and kept control of her music. She is also a great patron, volunteer and monetary leader for many issues in Stratford Ontario and abroad. She's amazing. And as we all have had, she has had her own loss of family members. pets, and her can stand?

O for a voice like thunder, and a tongue
To drown the throat of war! - When the senses
Are shaken, and the soul is driven to madness,
Who can stand? When the souls of the oppressed
Fight in the troubled air that rages, who can stand?
When the whirlwind of fury comes from the
Throne of God, when the frowns of his countenance
Drive the nations together, who can stand?
When Sin claps his broad wings over the battle,
And sails rejoicing in the flood of Death;
When souls are torn to everlasting fire,
And fiends of Hell rejoice upon the slain,
O who can stand? O who hath caused this?
O who can answer at the throne of God?
The Kings and Nobles of the Land have done it!
Hear it not, Heaven, thy Ministers have done it!

One of Loreena's very best! The poem by Blake provides a perfect counterpoint!

Many thanks for sharing ! Loreena McKennitt is one of the finest singers of all time, and my favourite. This song with the words of the poem never fail to move me - especially in these very troubled times ! Wars have been started deliberately and God has reason to be angry. Now we see a hurricane sweeping in and it's time to pray

Leave it to Ms. McKennitt to put the poetry into the music itself. Her vocables say far more than the words of Blake.

Let those with ears hear her Divine message.
