Audi B9 DL382 - Gearbox Oil (MTF Circuit) Change

*This only applies to the 2.0T B9 vehicles. The 3.0T with the ZF8 may have a different service procedure*

*This is NOT the DSG (ATF Circuit) service, do not follow this in place of the DSG service procedure*

In this video I summarize what I did to change the gearbox oil on my 2018 Audi A5 Sportback. This should apply to most vehicles utilizing the DL382 transmission, but confirm with your factory service manual before proceeding.

The DL382 transmission has 2 sections to it. The ATF section which is referenced when doing a “DSG Service”. On this side the fluid is where the mechatronics unit and the clutches live. There is no recommended service interval for the gearbox side. The gearbox side is referred to as the “MTF” side as it holds the manual transmission fluid that the gearsets and the center differential operate in.

My car had 70k on it and the fluid that drained out was quite dark compared to the new fluid.

Thanks – this is a really useful video. I have an 2019 A4 40 TDI – with the DL382 DSG box. The ATF side has been changed every 40k miles, but never the MTF side (and as far as I know, Audi provides no schedule for this). I plan to get mine changes after 165k miles!

Nates nice video, but I tried unscrewing the screw but I can't push the key in at all. What dimension did you use with the torx 60?

Is there an alternative to G055549A2? would 75W90 Gear oil GL4 rated work?

Thanks for making this video, as it's an impossible service to find info for online. In one of the comments below, I note you used p/n G055549A2 for the oil. As I have a FWD A4 2.0 (with the 0CK version of the gearbox), and you have a quattro, do you know if the same MTF is used between the two, or does the FWD version use a different p/n?

do you need a special adapter similar to the ATF fill port?

Edit: Also how can you even torque the plug back in?

Fluid needs to be changed both sides. Filters needs to be changed with every 2nd oilchange on the clutch side, so every 120k Kms.

Awesome video. Thanks to it, I may try to change the oil by myself. I am not sure though if I need special adapter for it or the plug is the same as for the ATF oil. I am asking because I can find some oil refill pumps for ATF but couldn't find any so far for MTF.
