Sadly - Mayor Becker's deregulation took income away from me (unable to work) and my 100 % disabled daughter.  Now we are nearly broke. The Governor's regulation of ride shares did not help. But it is just not fair to give Uber and Lyft a free pass to the Airport while everyone who wants to be a taxi has to wait in line.   Yellow cab had paid for licensing fees for nearly 90 years prior to their law suit with the city.  I hope you tell the full story.

Bear Ron are you implying the uber/lyft drivers do not need to stage in one of 5 lanes at the airport? If so you are dead wrong on that statement! I am involved with a driver involved with this story and can tell you this person has sat many many hours sitting there in the lanes many hours on end waiting for a fare to put food on the table. These drivers have been harrassed daily by the "taxi drivers" and have been blocked from entering the lanes, intimidated, mocked, as well as their vehicles have been spoken of by the taxi drivers in regards to damage/vandalism. Everyone has the right to drive a vehicle in this state as long as they obey laws as well as have insurance and I can assure you these courteous and skilled drivers have done all that is required to transport fares here in salt lake and beyond. We are no longer in the 1970's and organized crime driven business. If you can't make a buck working against them....join them!!! I have rode in taxis over the years and I have ridden in lyft and uber vehicles and would continue with the latter any day over the taxi service offered. They are nice clean people who value every customer and unlike a taxi ride they are held to very high standards thru the service providers and can be locked out of the app in one second if need be. They have paid to offer the services as well so like I said if u can't beat em. ...join em!!
