In this video lesson, we’ll be writing sales pages that simply just work by compelling users to act on your marketing message. The formula, that industry-leading marketers frequently use, is called AIDA and it’s an acronym that stands for the four basic tenets of a successful sales funnel. It works to generate Attention, Interest, Desire, and then Action, to turn your leads into long-term customers.

You can use AIDA for all types of digital marketing and offline advertising materials. These include web pages, emails, paid advertisements, direct mail pieces, and even radio and TV ads.
To explain the AIDA formula in more detail, let’s walk through how a sample company and product would use it on their sales landing page.

ATTENTION:
- Grab their attention with something catchy and relevant.
- Attract the eyes of the customer.
- It’s all about creating brand awareness.
- And finally, don’t forget to stand out!

Headline: It should be short, intriguing, and it should summarize vaguely what the product is about. Keep the customer guessing and inspired to read on. It should be one short sentence.

Subheadline: Another catchy line that hints at the product’s major benefits. It should now be a little less vague. This time, make it one long sentence.

Issue: State one common (the most popular) issue that users in your niche have that they want to be fixed.

INTEREST:
- This section focuses on holding your prospects’ attention.
- You need to give them a reason to stick around.
- Use storytelling through video, pictures, text, lists, etc. to explain the problem.
- And make it personal!

Promotional Video: A video that explains the problem and solutions. It should be stimulating and introduce your product effectively.

Demonstration Pictures: Pictures of the product in action. If it’s a software, show how it looks from the inside.

Internal Validation: Connect with your audience by telling them exactly how it made your life easier. If you don’t use the product yourself, show how it helped another person or company.

Specific Examples: Other ways to use the product that was not showcased in the Internal Validation section.

DESIRE:
- Show your prospects exactly how your offerings can solve their problems.
- Talk about how the price is not an issue by showcasing current promotions.
- Kill their objections and prove that it makes life better.
- And provide an extensive features list.

Original Price: List the previous price or the price that “Regular Joe’s” would pay on other days.

Special Price: List the current price or the special offer price if that person buys or subscribes today.

Testimonial: Display a 5-star testimonial from a real user that has used the product or service before. If this is the initial release, use a testimonial from someone in the beta.

Objections: Go through the most common FAQs and answer them all, so your customers don’t have to.

Features: List the features in an easy-to-read and straightforward way. Use colorful or animated icons to capture audience attention.

ACTION:
- Persuade your prospects to take immediate action.
- Create a sense of urgency by offering bonuses or deals to those who act fast.
- Use strong and proven CTAs.
- Use social proof. Your friends or competitors are doing it, so why not you?

Offer: A final CTA or Call-To-Action that encourages the customer to buy right now.

Show Scarcity: How much time is left until this deal ends? How many more products are left in stock? What happens if I don’t buy it today? Will the offer still be available tomorrow? Etc.

Social Proof: Reviews, questions, comments, on-site purchase notifications, endorsements, etc.

And that’s the AIDA Formula. In other words, it’s your tried-and-tested sales funnel.

In this course, we teach a lot about acquiring web traffic but neglect one of the most crucial aspects of running an online business. And that is CONVERSION. Use the AIDA Formula on your landing pages to ensure that future web traffic doesn’t go to waste.
