J.D. Vance on a Foreign Policy for the Middle Class

Senator J.D. Vance (R-OH) delivers a keynote address at the Quincy Institute's "A Foreign Policy for the Middle Class: Realism & Restraint Amid Global Conflict" conference in Washington D.C.

JD Vance challenges the conventional wisdom in foreign policy and military operations, emphasizing the need to prioritize the American middle class's interests. He argues that the US should build alliances with countries that benefit its own interests, rather than overcommitting to dependent client states. Vance stresses the importance of a strong economy at home to inform and execute a foreign policy that benefits the middle class.

As a Trump fan I actually never heard of this guy before today, but man he is a great speaker. I’m glad Trump made a solid choice, the dems are already trying to dig up every spec of dirt about this guy, as they would for anyone trump would pick, but listening to him talk and hearing his opinions I can tell he wants what is good for America and its economy. Not on board with the frankly disturbing rationale that Israel is worthy of our involvement due to theologically historic geography. Vance's OTHER reasons can at least be looked at in some quantifiable manner.

Wow! A poltician who can actually think and articulate - very strange for me as this is nearly totally absent in the UK (Farage aside) where the calibre is very low and verging on the moronic. Particularly impressive is Vance's assessment of Israel and the Middle East. I am just back from Israel where I met with Christians terrified that Israel will one day vanish, which will leave them at the mercy of the Jihadis. Many of these Christians, particularly the Maronites in the North are volunteering to serve in the IDF, despite huge pressure and persecution from their Arab Muslim neighbours. These people of course have zero coverage in our Islamophile, grievance-morality based and ultra-leftist media.

American foreign policy for the last 60 years has failed almost every time. Why does the US keep making the same mistakes over and over again? Ukraine is the perfect example. Like all the other conflicts US has supported, it will only end when US stops supporting it.

Talking about ancient Christian communities, Vance doesn't seem to be aware of Israeli pressure on these people, including in Gaza where the world's 3rd oldest church stands - now heavily damaged by bombing.
